PROTECTION OF THE SUBMARINE ENVIRONMENT AGAINST NOISE POLLUTION

ORGANIZATION : Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées Bretagne ENSTA Bretagne.

TIME : Thursday 12th May (8:30-12:30)

LANGUAGE : English

TOPIC : Human activities at sea generate underwater noise pollutions (explosions, vibrations, sound waves induced by the engines …) that disturb the marine medium up to threatening the marine biodiversity. Currently, the actors at the origin of this pollution have few solutions to limit their nuisances.
In touch with the topics covered by the main conference on policies, regulations and technological advances related to the quality of marine activities, the workshop will allow discussing important research fields such as

• The definition of submarine noise sources and their impacts.
• The quantification of noise pollution thresholds related to marine species.
• Solutions (from regulations to innovative processes).

The meeting will thus allow depicting the state of the art and inducing exchanges in order to set out an action plan for future researches in the field.
